A hype sizzle reel celebrating women in sports as seen through the eyes of the internal Gatorade team.

Overview
As part of an internal celebration honoring female athletes, I edited a brand sizzle for the Gatorade team that explored what “It” means across generations of women in sport.
The piece was developed over multiple creative review rounds with both internal teams and external client stakeholders. My goal was to shape a fast-paced, emotionally charged edit that honored legacy, highlighted emerging athletes, and stayed visually aligned with the broader Is It In You? campaign language.
The Challenge
This project required balancing several creative priorities at once:
- Aligning with an active brand campaign built around the idea of “It”
- Representing women across multiple eras of sport
- Blending modern campaign footage with legacy archival content
- Adapting editorial choices across multiple stakeholder feedback rounds
Lead Editor
I was responsible for:
- Editorial story structure
- Footage selection and sequencing
- Music exploration and pacing
- Script synchronization
- Graphic timing and visual rhythm
- Managing multiple rounds of creative revisions
Creative Ingredients
( 1 ) Footage Strategy
The final edit was built from multiple footage sources, including:
- Previously produced in-house campaign footage
- Client-approved branded assets
- Archival footage from iconic Gatorade athletes and programs
To support the client’s request for generational storytelling, the edit featured athletes from across the brand's history alongside newer athletes and youth development programs.
One of the emotional anchors of the piece included footage of Serena Williams with her daughter, helping reinforce themes of legacy, mentorship, and what gets passed forward.
( 2 ) Music Direction
Music became one of the biggest creative discussion points.
The client specifically requested a track from a female artist to strengthen the energy and voice of the piece.
After several music exploration rounds, the team landed on FUTW by LISA.
Once the track was approved, I rebuilt portions of the edit to better match its rhythm, energy shifts, and lyrical attitude—using music accents to drive transitions, impact moments, and emotional escalation.
( 3 ) Campaign Integration
Because this project was created during Is It In You?, the provided script heavily emphasized “It.”
This created a unique editorial challenge:
- How do you make a single word feel powerful over and over again?
My solution was to:
- Build rhythmic cut points around each “It”
- Use typography and graphic hits to reinforce key script moments
- Pair each “It” with visual proof—grit, training, motherhood, competition, mentorship, legacy
This allowed the script and visuals to work together rather than feel repetitive.
